Lifeboat Release Mechanism

The release device on the lifeboat is a device used to quickly and safely release the lifeboat from the ship to the surface of the water, and its main function is to ensure that the lifeboat can be quickly detached from the mother ship in case of emergency, so as to facilitate the escape of the personnel. The following are the main features and operating procedures of the lifeboat release device:
Main Components:
Davit Hook: used to fix the lifeboat, usually including bow and stern davit hooks.
Release handle unit: including release handle, pull bar, safety pin, etc., used to control the release operation.
Hydrostatic Pressure Release Unit: Prevents accidental release of the lifeboat due to misoperation before it enters the water.
Connecting wire rope: Used to connect the lifeboat with the release device.
Release operation procedure:
After all members are in position, pull out the safety pin and then release the boat.
1. Normal release (unhooked without load):
- Do not touch the operating handle before entering the water.
- Remove the safety pin when the boat is fully in the water.
- Makesure that the hydrostatic pressure release safety is on, then pull the operating handle firmly.
2. Emergency release procedure:
When the lifeboat is not fully in the water, but not more than 1 meter above the water surface, perform the following procedure.
- Remove the safety pin from the handle.
- Remove the safety pin from the handle. Lift the hydrostatic pressure release safety in the emergency cover to the red position.
- Trigger the operating handle.
3. Recovery Procedure:
- Verify that both hooks are in the brake block.
- Make sure that both hooks are in the brake block. Reset the release handle and insert the safety pin.
- Hydrostatic release should be in the OFF position (green zone) when the lifeboat is lifted.
- Lift the lifeboat to the storage position.
